FEU almost imploded in the second set but regrouped in the third set to trounce a retooled UP squad, 25-14, 26-24, 25-20, at the resumption of the UAAP Women's Volleyball Tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
After cruising to a smooth first set victory, the Lady Tamaraws found themselves in a tight fight with the Lady Maroons in the second set, needing an extra point to take the set.
FEU looked to smooth-sail to the win early in the third set.
But UP stayed in the game and kept the game close later in the set.
The Lady Tams finally broke loose as the Lady Maroons lost steam in the end.
Bernadeth Pons led FEU with 15 points off 14 kills, while Yna Papa added ten markers.
Nicole Tiamzon came off the bench to score 12 points for UP.
