Purefoods spoils Pacquiao's Kia return via Q4 blast

By Dugout Philippines

Three days after Manny Pacquiao deposed Chris Algieri, he was immediately handed a loss--on the hardwood.

Joe Devance delivered the knockout blow as Purefoods banked on a fourth quarter outburst to hand Pacquiao and Kia a 77-88 beating in the nightcap of the PBA games at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Devance scored 13 of his 16 points in the pivotal payoff period as the Hotshots outscored the Sorentos, 37-20, to turn a 51-57 deficit to an 88-77 winning margin, leading by as much as 15 late in the quarter.

Mark Barroca added 15 markers for Purefoods, which won its fourth straight game and moves up to 5-3.

Reil Cervantes led Kia, which lost its ninth straight game and eventually knocked out of quarterfinal contention, with 14 points.

Pacquiao was held scoreless in his PBA comeback.
