Talk 'n Text got its first win against former coach Norman Black after beating Meralco, 80-72, in the nightcap of the PBA games at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
The close, defensive-themed match slowly turned the Tropang Texters' way after building a 23-12 run in the fourth quarter to take a 76-68 lead with less than three minutes left.
The Bolts tried to inch closer after scoring four straight to cut the advantage to four with 1:11 left.
But Talk 'n Text sealed the win after answering with four unanswered of its own and a great defensive stand in the end.
Harvey Carey made two decisive blocks along with seven markers and 14 rebounds to lead the Tropang Texters, who spoiled Black's early birthday bash.
