Tab Baldwin will officially be the next Gilas coach.
SBP Vice President Ricky Vargas revealed that Baldwin, who served as the national team's consultant during its world basketball conquest in the last two years, will replace Chot Reyes as Gilas' chief tactician.
"We've signed him to a four-year contract," Vargas disclosed the term of Baldwin.
Baldwin is now tasked to build the third Gilas team which will play in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, where a slot in the 2016 Olympic Games is on the line.
His tenure will run until 2018 and may be extended for another year depending on his coaching performance.
Baldwin, who is currently the coaching consultant for Talk 'n Text, coached New Zealand to a spot in the Olympics.
The SBP is expected to formally name Baldwin in a press conference prior to Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals between Talk 'n Text and San Miguel.
