La Salle staved off a huge game from Nicole Tiamzon and an early Set 3 disaster to take down UP, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21, in the resumption of the UAAP women's volleyball games at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Spikers looked to cruise to a smooth win after dominating the first set.
But Tiamzon began picking up steam in the second set as she kept the Lady Maroons in the set before conceding the 20-25 scoreline.
Tiamzon then sparked UP's 7-2 early attack in the third set.
La Salle, however, crawled back and took the lead for good to take the match.
Ara Galang led the Lady Spikers with 20 points off 16 spikes, three blocks, and an ace. Cyd Demecillo added ten markers.
Tiamzon scored 17 points, 15 off spikes and two off aces, for the Lady Maroons. Kathy Bersola converted ten points off four blocks.
