A New Zealand basketball site reported that Tab Baldwin will become the new coach of Gilas Pilipinas.

Niall Anderson wrote in NZHoops that Baldwin, a former coach of the New Zealand basketball team known as the "Tall Blacks", "has committed to a full-time role with the Philippine national side, with the American-born coach set to be unveiled as their head coach in the coming days."

Past reports revealed Baldwin as the top favorite for the Gilas coaching job, which also have Tim Cone, Yeng Guiao and Robert Jaworski among those being considered, considering his international basketball credentials.

Anderson also reported that Baldwin, the current coaching consultant for the Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters in the PBA, will step down as the coach of the NBL's Hawke Bay Hawks, which he helped make the league finals this year, earning him a fourth Coach of the Year plum.

"Baldwin’s decision [to become the Gilas coach] also leaves the Hawke’s Bay Hawks without a head coach for the upcoming 2015 season," Anderson said.
