Kaya mauled Laos, 6-0, to stay in contention for a spot in the knockout semis of the PFF-Smart Club Championship at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila City.

Kaya raced to a 2-0 lead at halftime and never looked back as the club scored four more after the intermission to move up to provisional first place, leading Ceres and Loyola on goal difference.

The winner of the Ceres-Loyola match, however, will climb up to the top at the end of the night. A draw will pull Kaya down to third place with Loyola next on Monday.

Still, Kaya's win made up for the shock result of the two clubs' last meeting during the UFL-FA League Cup, where they settled for a 1-1 draw.

Laos' loss, on the other hand, put the club on a tough mountain to climb as the team needs to hope that Loyola wins in its match against Ceres, which is ongoing as of writing, and bludgeons the defending national champion in their own tie also on Monday.
