NU, UP, and UST opened their UAAP men's tennis campaign at the Olivarez Sports Center on a high note this past weekend with consecutive wins.
Led by MVP Fritz Verdad, the defending back-to-back champs Bulldogs hacked out separate 4-1 victories over UE and Ateneo. The Bulldogs have yet to lose in their last 24 ties.
The Fighting Maroons also beat the Blue Eagles, 4-1, on opening day. The day later, the Maroons defeated the De La Salle Green Archers, 3-2.
The Growling Tigers took down the Green Archers, 3-2, on opening day and downed the Red Warriors, 4-1, the following day.
In the distaff side, the UST Tigresses, led by Kendies Malinis, defeated the De La Salle Lady Archers, 3-2, the day after downing the UP Lady Maroons, 4-1.
The Lady Archers began their season with a 4-1 win against the Ateneo Lady Eagles.
The NU Lady Bulldogs, starring the Patrimonio Sisters, began their title defense with a 4-1 win over the Lady Maroons.
