La Salle settled to a 1-1 draw with fierce rival Ateneo to gain a share of first place in the UAAP Season 77 men's football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch.
Yoshiharu Koizumi found the back of the net off a scramble coming off a free kick by Greggy Yang in the 74th minute for the Green Booters to equalize after the Blue Eagles' Julian Roxas opened the scoring in the 55th minute.
In the first round, La Salle and Ateneo ended up in a goalless draw.
The Green Booters fell to a tie with the UP Fighting Maroons in first place with 20 points. The Maroons, a 1-0 winner against the NU Bulldogs on Saturday, lead on goal difference. The Eagles are running third with 18 points.
UST kept its flickering semifinals hopes alive with a 3-0 win over UE.
Steven Anotado scored his ninth goal of the season, tying Eric Giganto and Jinggoy Valmayor on top of the best scorers race, to help the sixth-running Growling Tigers to climb to 12 points. UST is trailing FEU, which mauled Adamson, 6-0, on Saturday, by five points in the race for the last Final Four berth.
