Ceres relied on a defensive stand in the second half to beat Manila Jeepney, 2-1, in the first match of the 2015 UFL season at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila City.
Newcomer Martin Steuble opened the scoring for Ceres in the 15th minute and Adrian Gallardo doubled the lead 25 minutes later.
Alvaro Alonso kept Ceres' fellow promoted club Jeepney in the match as he struck a goal three minutes into the second half, but Ceres' defense held on in the rest of the half to secure the full three points.
