Ginebra steps up late, stops Blackwater's rally

QUEZON CITY--Ginebra nearly squandered a double-digit lead but held on to an 89-82 win against Blackwater at the nightcap of the PBA Commissioner's Cup games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings erected a 73-62 advantage with 9:51 remaining in the game, only to see the Elite cut it to just two, 77-75, with 4:25 left.

A three-pointer from L.A. Tenorio sparked Ginebra's last stand to preserve the win.

Mike Dunigan had 27 points, while Tenorio and Greg Slaughter added 17 each for the Gin Kings, who moved up to 4-3.

Marcus Douthit led the Elite with 16 points.
