MANILA--Three nights after getting humbled by South China in the AFC Cup at the same pitch, Global showed prowess with a 5-0 mauling on Army in their UFL Saturday night tie at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Renato Gonzalez struck first for Global in the 21st minute after Hikau Minigeshi found him open for the shot.
Minigeshi followed suit five minutes later with a good touch off a through ball and scored.
Satoshi Otomo made it 3-0 before halftime as he slotted a beautiful goal despite Army's defensive challenge.
Rolf Schlettwein added a goal in the 64th minute, while Mark Hartmann sealed the win with a stoppage time goal.
The win keeps Global at the top of the league table with 13 points ahead of its anticipated showdown with arch rival Kaya next week.
