Lady Tamaraws force four-way tie for fourth with win against Lady Maroons

By Ivan Saldajeno

PASAY--FEU snapped its three-game losing streak and defeated UP, 19-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-19, to keep its UAAP women's volleyball playoff bid alive at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Tamaraws bounced back from a Set 1 loss to shock the Lady Maroons, who could not duplicate their brilliance in the first frame.

Bernadette Pons, who struggled during their skid, led FEU with 20 points with three aces, while Remy Palma added 16 markers on three blocks.

Angeli Araneta scored 15 for UP, which failed to break away from the rest of the pack in the race for the last playoff spot and now ended up in a four-way tie for fourth place.

With the result, Adamson, which lost to NU earlier, stayed in contention and joined UP, FEU, and idle UST in the logjam entering Matchday 14 this weekend.

The Tigresses will face the UE Lady Warriors, while the Lady Falcons and the Lady Tams will clash on Saturday.

In the lone women's meeting of the final day of eliminations on Sunday, the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Maroons will lock horns.
