Maziya shocks Ceres; Global left as lone PH bet in AFC Cup

MALE--Maldivian club Maziya stunned fancied Philippine side Ceres, 1-0, in front of the hometown crowd to nail a spot in the group stage of the AFC Cup on Tuesday night.

Samdooh Mohammed scored the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute by taking the intended pass by Manny Ott to Patrick Reichelt and slotted the ball past Michael Casas.

With Ceres' loss, Global is now left on its lonesome to represent the Philippines in the group stages.

Global's AFC Cup quest begins next Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium against South China.
