Second half goals lift Stallion to shock win over Loyola

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--Stallion put an end to Loyola's perfect streak after a 2-1 win in their UFL showdown at the Rizal Memorial Stadium late Saturday night.

Jordan Mintah found O.J. Clariño off the cross as the latter headed in a 51st minute goal to cancel James Younghusband's 19th minute strike.

Fitch Arboleda then scored the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute off a Balut Doctora assist.

Clariño and Landry Nguene missed wide-open attempts to pull away for good, keeping Loyola in the match at stoppage time.

Loyola, however, misfired in two attempts in the final minute of added time as Stallion escaped with the win that snapped Loyola's three-game winning streak.

Stallion and Loyola are now tied for third place in the league table with the latter ahead on goal difference.

Loyola's loss left Global, which won earlier in the night against Army, and Kaya as the remaining unbeaten clubs. Both Global and Kaya will battle next Saturday at the said pitch.
