PASIG--Cagayan nearly lost a 13-point cushion but still walked away with a 75-70 win against AMA in the first game of a PBA D-League triple-header at the Ynares Sports Arena on Thursday.
The Rising Suns led, 74-61, with 7:41 left in the game, but a 10-2 run by the Titans, all coming from Marcy Arellano, cut the lead to five, 66-61, with 4:38 to go.
Abel Galliguez sparked Cagayan's six-point string to up the lead to 11, 72-61, with 3:31 remaining, but AMA countered with a 7-0 run to chop it to four, 72-68, 18 seconds later.
Galliguez walked away with the last laugh as he buried a triple with 2:25 left, and the Rising Suns put on a tremendous defense on the Titans in the end.
Now without Moala Tautuaa, who now plays for Cebuana Lhuillier, Cagayan, which partnered with Gerry's Grill for the Foundation Cup, bucked a 10-point, 29-rebound game from Jay-R Taganas.
