PASAY--La Salle will take on Ateneo for the fourth straight time in the UAAP women's volleyball finals.
The difference from the previous three series, however, is that Ara Galang will not suit up this time.
The Lady Spikers' bid to reclaim the title they lost to the Lady Eagles last year got a major blow as Galang hurt her knee late in the fourth set of their 26-24 21-25 25-18 25-21 win against the NU Lady Bulldogs in their knockout semifinal clash at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After La Salle struggled in the first two sets, it finally found its form in the third and seemed to quickly depose NU.
Galang, however, made a bad fall and tweaked her knee in the process with the Lady Spikers up, 23-20, in the fourth.
Desiree Cheng and Justine Tiu finished the job to set up the championship clash with the Lady Eagles beginning on Wednesday. Ateneo holds a virtual 1-0 lead in a best-of-five series as a bonus for sweeping the elimination round
After the game, Galang was rushed to the Makati Medical Center to check the extent of the injury.
