Loyola, Global collide in rematch of Smart-PFF Cup final

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--Two months ago, Loyola beat Global, 2-0, to clinch the Smart-PFF Club Championship.

On Saturday night, they will meet again.

For the first time since that eventful January match, the two clubs will clash in a UFL showdown at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The kickoff will take place shortly after 8 p.m.

Global looks to avenge the bitter defeat to Loyola in the championship game, but its morale is not that high as the club came from an 0-2 AFC Cup loss to Yadanarbon in Myanmar on Wednesday.

Loyola, on the other hand, will try to make a repeat of the win without the help of hero Matthew Hartmann, who left the club just as the UFL season was underway.

The Loyola-Global match is part of a UFL Saturday triple-header.

Manila Jeepney and Army will face off in a battle of struggling squads at 2 p.m., while Kaya looks to strengthen its hold of the lead in the standings as it goes up against Pachanga at 5 p.m.
