PARAÑAQUE--Mark Muñoz is set to call it a career.

The Filipino-American UFC fighter announced his plans to retire from the MMA circuit in the press conference of his fight against Luke Barnatt at the Solaire Grand Ballroom Tuesday.

The Muñoz-Barnatt match is part of the supporting bouts in the first UFC event in the Philippines on May 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena which will be capped by a showdown between Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber.

“I’ve been in the UFC for seven years now and I’ve been in the MMA for eight years and this will be my last fight,” said Muñoz, who lost two weeks ago to Roan Carneiro at UFC 184.

Muñoz also said that he is happy that he will have his farewell fight in front of his fellow Filipinos.

“This is my last fight so I’m going to go out and fight for my people,” he vowed.
