MANILA--UP Fighting Maroons team manager Dan Palami accepted former Barako Bull coach Siot Tanquincen's decision to have his name erased among those considered for the UP Fighting Maroons job.
"We respect [his decision]," Palami said on Saturday after Tanquincen, the PBA club's current team manager, said that he will focus more on his summer basketball camp.
However, Palami admitted that Tanquincen, a champion coach with Ginebra and San Miguel, is one of the better candidates to spearhead a UP squad which has struggled in recent years.
"He would have been a good candidate," Palami said.
On who will end up as the one to replace Rey Madrid to lead the Fighting Maroons, he reminded, "It's a tough job ahead."
