Purefoods survives late Alaska run to clinch semis berth

QUEZON CITY--Purefoods set up a PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinal date with Talk 'n Text after a 96-89 win against Alaska in Game 2 of their quarterfinal tie at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

The Hotshots, however, had to keep their huge lead from getting completely gone late in the match.

Purefoods led by as much as 20, 75-55, early in the fourth quarter, but Alaska cut it to as low as four, 88-84.

Free throws sealed the deal for the Hotshots, who swept their best-of-three series with the Aces.

Denzel Bowles scored a game-high 32 points for Purefoods, which will kick off its semifinal affair with Talk 'n Text on Wednesday.

Damion James scored 22 points for Alaska.
