QUEZON CITY--From a franchise that drew flak in the PBA Philippine Cup because it has Manny Pacquiao as the head coach, Kia is suddenly in the thick of the Commissioner's Cup playoff race.

All thanks to P.J. Ramos.

Behind the 7-4 behemoth, the Carnival continued its surprise run in the said conference with a 103-89 upset of the Alaska Aces in a Tuesday night match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Kia pulled away in the final three quarters and held off some Alaska rallies to take its fourth win and keeping the club inside the top eight with two outings left in its elimination schedule.

Ramos exploded for 36 points and 33 rebounds for the Carnival. The 33 boards were the most in a single game since 2005. Brian Butch also put up a 30-30 for Meralco in last year's edition.

Damion James led the Aces with 25 markers.
