MANILA--"From [a] King Lion, I am now [a] Gin King."

That was how new Ginebra coach Frankie Lim concluded his statement of acceptance to his new role with the PBA's most popular ballclub.

On Wednesday, Lim announced by an official statement that he will replace Ato Agustin as the head coach of the Gin Kings.

"I’m honored and humbled to be appointed Head Coach of the most popular team in the PBA. I’m thankful to management for giving me the trust and confidence," the former San Beda Red Lion, who had championships with the collegiate team as a player and a coach, said in his statement.

Lim also vowed that he will reignite the flames of Ginebra that was extinguished by early playoff exits in the recent years.

"My duty is to bring the team to the next level of excellence, ensuring that we set higher goals for ourselves to bring back the fire, tenacity and win championships as we owe it to our dear fans.... Surely it is not an easy task, there will be changes, but change is good and I am up for the challenge," he continued.

Lim also said that he will commit to his new task to lead a Ginebra team he helped become a formidable squad as a player in the late 80's.
