SINGAPORE--A day after getting blasted by host team Singapore, Laos got a relatively better result against perennial Southeast Asian basketball superpower Philippines.
After only scoring 21 in a 92-point defeat on Monday, Laos fell to its second straight SEABA Championship loss against the Gilas Cadets, 124-37, on Tuesday at the OCBC Arena.
Despite their expected fate against the Filipinos, the Laotians got their acts going in the fourth quarter, scoring more than their total output in the first three periods.
Still, the Gilas Cadets, which opened the match on a 28-2 run, once again imposed their might in the game, although they slowed down in the fourth as they tried to go for outside shots at some points.
Troy Rosario led the Gilas Cadets with 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting and six rebounds off the bench, while fellow substitute Rey-Ray made 18 markers on an 8-of-11 field goal clip, six boards, and four assists.
Phouthong Labouaphieng scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds along with a steal and a block for Laos.
