MANILA--Ceres' perfect UFL run came to an end on Saturday night after Global took a 2-0 win in their showdown at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Misagh Bahadoran opened the scoring in the 42nd minute after he received a back pass from Pika Minigeshi when the latter broke out of the Ceres.
Minigeshi once again provided an assist in the 67th minute after getting loose from Ceres' back line anew, leading to a Mark Hartmann goal.
Despite losing for the first time this season, Ceres remains at the top of the league table with 21 points, leading Stallion, which defeated Green Archers in an earlier match on Saturday, on goal difference.
However, the loss left the window open for Kaya and Loyola, which are three points behind Ceres, to take the lead. Both clubs will clash on Sunday night.
On the other hand, Global, which started slow in the season, moved to third place with 19 points.
Global is now on a three-game winning streak in all competitions following a 4-1 rout of Yadanarbon in the AFC Cup at the new Philippine Sports Stadium in Bocaue on Wednesday night.
