MANILA--Purefoods' bid for the retention of the remnant of its grand slam season the previous year will begin in the nightcap of a rare Saturday doubleheader as the PBA released on Thursday the official schedule of the season-ending Governors' Cup.

The Hotshots will start their campaign for a third consecutive Governors' Cup championship against the NLEX Road Warriors in the second game of a twinbill on May 9, the first of two doubleheaders to take place on a Saturday.

The Smart Araneta Coliseum will host the said fixture and the preceding match between San Miguel and Meralco.

Purefoods will also be involved in the other Saturday doubleheader at the said arena as it will face Rain Or Shine right after the Alaska-Barako Bull game.

In between the doubleheaders will be one-game Saturday stops in Dipolog, Angeles, and Bacolod. The PBA will also host a game in Panabo on June 20 between the Aces and the Beermen.

The league will also hold two games at the Ynares Center on May 18, which is a Monday. NLEX will collide with Kia, while Talk 'n Text will clash with Alaska.

The PBA Dubai games will push through as scheduled on May 21 and 22, with the Elasto Painters playing back-to-back games against the GlobalPort Batang Pier and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

The conference will start on May 5 with Blackwater facing Alaska and Meralco battling GlobalPort.

The finalists of the Commissioner's Cup, Talk 'n Text and Rain or Shine, will only begin their respective campaign in the Governors' Cup on May 10 and 12 respectively.
