By Ivan Saldajeno

PASAY--Petron bounced back from a slow start to oust Philips from the PLDT Home Ultera-Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Finals contention with a 25-14, 25-23, 25-18 win in their knockout semifinal at the Cuneta Astrodome on Monday.

The Blaze Spikers showed some aftereffect of a one-week layoff as the Lady Slammers raced to a 5-0 lead at the start of the match.

The Blaze Spikers fought back and walloped the Lady Slammers in the rest of the first set to take the match advantage.

Philips kept in step in Set 2, forcing a 23-all deadlock in the period.

Petron still prevailed in the second frame as the club scored the last two points. Petron secured the first finals berth in straight-set fashion after winning the third set.

Maica Morada showed an all-around effort for the Blaze Spikers, who have now won 11 in a row, as she scored 11 points while getting 11 digs to lead them.

Petron will await the winner of the other semifinal between Foton and Shopinas, which will play later Monday.
