Red Lions repeat PCCL Finals mastery over Green Archers in FilOil match

SAN JUAN, MM--San Beda prevailed in its PCCL finals rematch with La Salle after an 86-80 overtime win in the marquee match-up of the opening day festivities of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Saturday night.

The Red Lions, who won in the national finals last December, lost a ten-point lead, 64-54, built early in the fourth quarter as Jeron Teng scored a layup and its corresponding bonus free throw off a foul to cap a late Green Archers to send the game to overtime

San Beda, led by Baser Amer and Arth Dela Cruz, pulled off an 8-0 run that met little resistance from La Salle in  the overtime session to take the win.

Amer led all scorers with 26 points along with nine rebounds and five assists, while Ola Adeogun chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Red Lions.

Rookie Andrei Caracut scored 22 points in a losing effort for the Green Archers, the defending champion in the said preseason tournament.
