MANILA--On Tuesday night, Green Archers appeared to have a shot at pulling off a huge upset against Ceres with Archers' keeper Paolo Pascual holding his own at the posts and Ceres player Jalsor Soriano getting ejected after getting a red card.
A Manny Ott shot from way out became the difference.
Ott fired a rocket goal to lead Ceres' second half charge to win, 2-1, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
In the 70th minute, the midfielder quickly shot the ball from long range after an interception and caught Pascual by surprise as it went to the net to the delight of the Ceres fans.
Juani Guirado followed with a header off a corner eight minutes later to duplicate the gap.
Kennedy Uzoka made things interesting as he got the ball after a failed save attempt by Michael Casas and struck the close-range effort with six minutes left in the match, but Green Archers never threatened since then.
The club actually had a shot to go ahead early on as ten minutes into the match, a Green Archers player was fouled inside the penalty area, but Casas saved the penalty kick.
Playing one of its two matches at hand, Ceres kept a perfect record after six games and forced a three-way tie with Kaya and Loyola at the top of the league table. Ceres will play Loyola next to be followed by a clash with Socceroo.
