SAN JUAN, MM—Almost two months after officially welcoming EAC and Lyceum as regular members, the NCAA could become an 11-team league soon.

Coach Egay Macaraya revealed to sportswriters on Saturday night that his team, the CEU Scorpions, applied for NCAA membership.

"We've been trying to be a part of the NCAA," Macaraya said.

He hopes that the league will approve CEU's application.

"Hopefully, it will be a positive outcome. Hopefully, makapasok kami," Macaraya continued.

Considering their performance in recent years, however, it seems that the Scorpions are NCAA-ready.

In last year's FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup, they made it to the semifinals. This year, they are currently on top of the team standings in Group B following wins against NCAA champions San Beda Red Lions and the defending FilOil Cup champions De La Salle Green Archers.

Also, the Scorpions have made impressions in the PBA D-League as Cafe France.

For the meantime, Macaraya said that CEU's focus will be on the NAASCU, where the team is the defending champion.

The Scorpions have reigned supreme in NAASCU immediately after longtime champs UM Hawks left.
