MANILA—On the night of Manila Day, Eric Giganto gave Manila Jeepney another reason to be happy on the said city holiday.
Giganto provided the spark as Jeepney pulled a 3-2 upset win against Stallion in a UFL match at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
Giganto received the ball from Arhtur Kouassi and fired a tenth-minute goal to put Jeepney up, 1-0.
Giganto returned the favor five minutes later as he assisted on Kouassi's attack of his own to double Jeepney's lead.
Jordan Mintah put Stallion on the board in the half-hour mark by scoring from the left side of the box.
Stallion had huge chances to tie the match at halftime as Mintah got free inside the box, but his shot only hit the post and Balut Doctora's follow-up also hit the woodwork.
Giganto put the match away for Jeepney as he broke out of a crowded box and hit the 72nd minute goal.
Doctora scored a last-minute consolation goal for Stallion for the final tally.
Jeepney has now two straight matches to open the second round, while Stallion's championship hopes flickered anew with its second straight loss.
