MANILA--Masagi Yanagawa scored the go-ahead goal as Global staved off an early surprise from Stallion and got the 2-1 win in their UFL clash at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Sunday night.
Yanagawa scored the game-winner as he got the ball from a corner kick by Mark Hartmann and drilled the 79th-minute goal as Global completed a comeback from 0-1 down.
Nate Alquiros stunned Global early on as he got past keeper Roland Sadia and drilled in a ninth-minute strike to put Stallion on the scoreboard.
Balut Doctora had a chance to duplicate the lead four minutes later, but his shot lacked power and Yanagawa got a piece of the ball. Doctora had another chance in the 29th minute, but Sadia saved the ball.
Izo Elhabib tied the match in the 36th minute as he found space inside the box and sent the ball past Stallion's goalkeeper.
Sadia again made an impression at the post as he saved another Doctora attempt seconds later that could have put Stallion back up. He also got back at Alquiros as he saved the latter's rocket try in the 64th minute.
Then came Yanagawa's heroics as he found the net after Hartmann sent the ball from the corner to the crowded box.
