SAN JUAN, MM--SWU prevailed over Lyceum, 60-53, in a battle of also-ran teams in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Friday.
The Cobras built an 18-point cushion at the end of the third quarter, which was enough to overcome a fourth quarter surge from the Pirates.
Melvin Holper made 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks, while Boko Mupungo added 11 points, ten rebounds, and three blocks for SWU, which won for only the second time in the tournament.
Jean Nguidjol led Lyceum, which finished its campaign with a 1-7 record, with 11 points, five rebounds, and two blocks.
