MANILA--The much-talked about coaching rigodon between the two most well-loved teams in the PBA is now a reality.
Snow Badua of Spin.PH broke out the news on Monday that Coach Tim Cone will head to Ginebra in a huge coaching shakeup with Star.
In the report, San Miguel Corporation top executive Ramon Ang confirmed that Cone will indeed be leaving the Hotshots, who he coached for four seasons and gave five championships including the league's fifth grand slam in 2014, and join the Gin Kings, who did not win a PBA title for seven straight seasons.
Assistant Coach Richard Del Rosario will also go to Ginebra as part of Cone's coaching staff, while Jason Webb will now take over the Star camp.
Cone will officially have his first day as Ginebra mentor once he returns from Las Vegas, where he scouted for potential imports in the NBA Summer League.
On the other hand, the future of Frankie Lim, who took over the Gin Kings camp during the Governors' Cup but could only lift them to an eighth-place finish in the season-ending conference, remains uncertain to this date.
