MACAU--Nonito Donaire proved he can still vie for a world boxing championship as he knocked out Frenchman Anthony Settoul in just the second round of an undercard match in the "Victory at the Venetian" boxing event at the Cotai Arena inside The Venetian Macau Complex on Saturday night.
The former four-division world champion pounded it on in the first three minutes, sending Settoul down the canvas twice.
Settoul survived Donaire's first round onslaught, but the French pug finally imploded in the second as a right hook to the head by the Filipino fighter, known to have a deadly left hook, knocked him down anew, forcing his cornermen to call it a match by throwing their towel.
Donaire moved up to 35-3 and put him in a position for a chance to win a ninth world boxing title overall.
