MANILA--A second half barrage kept Global in step with Ceres for the UFL championship with a 6-0 rout of Socceroo at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night.

After Masaki Yanagawa's opening goal in the 27th minute, it took 28 minutes before Pika Minegeshi made it 2-0 for Global off a nice feed by Misagh Bahadoran.

Jason De Jong tripled Global's lead in the 67th minute after an O.J. Clariño assist even as Norio Suzuki, who checked in for De Jong, added an 80th minute score.

Minegeshi pulled one more goal for Global in the 84th minute before Dennis Villanueva put the icing on the cake three minutes later.

Now at provisional second place with 30 points, Global moved to within four points of Ceres in the title race. Ceres is playing Green Archers as of posting.
