MANILA--In their first round meeting, Global wasted no time in trampling Manila Jeepney.
On Saturday night, however, the tides changed, and Global's chase for a silverware hit a big roadblock.
Jeepney nearly completed a bounce back from an early Global goal before settling for a 2-2 draw in their UFL second round meeting at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Jeepney easily erased a fifth minute goal from Izo Elhabib as Kofi Kouassi broke past the Global defense and struck the equalizer inside the goal posts in the 29th minute.
Eric Giganto then put Jeepney up when he took advantage of a failed clearance by Marco Casambre and scored seven minutes later.
Jeepney appeared to have contained Global for the remainder of the first half and most of the second half, but Daisuke Sato tied the match in the 82nd minute as he drilled in a rocket goal from long distance.
Despite getting a point to move up to 28 points with three matches left in its schedule, Global gave league-leading Ceres, with 34 points, a chance to pull away further from the championship race with a win against Kaya on Sunday night.
