MANILA--With only five games left in its maiden season in UFL Division 1, Ceres needs ten points or basically three wins and at least a draw in one of the other two to secure the league title.
But for Coach Ali Go, the magic number is only six.
Go thinks his club, which currently tops the league table with 34 points, six clear of second-placed Kaya, can walk away with the championship should the team goes on to win its next two assignments.
"We win these two, the league is over. That's for me," Go said to sportswriters following Ceres' 2-2 draw with defending champion Global.
However, it will not be an easy task for the two-time Smart-PFF Club Champion as the red-hot Green Archers and equally strong Kaya are next on Wednesday and Sunday respectively.
Go admitted, "These two games are big for us.... Our opponents are playing good. GAU is playing good. Kaya is playing good. So we have to be at our 100 percent."
After Sunday, Ceres will have a relatively lighter schedule as it will take on Socceroo on Saturday and Manila Jeepney on Aug. 5 with the Aug. 2 affair with Stallion the only tough match left.
