LSGH's rout of Letran overturned on jersey number issue

MANILA--Just like that, La Salle Greenhills' 39-point mauling of Letran featuring a 35-point explosion from star Ricci Rivero went down the drain owing to a sort of "wardrobe malfunction".

The NCAA Management Committee upheld on Wednesday Commissioner Bai Cristobal's suggestion of overturning the Greenies' Tuesday win over the Squires after three of their players wore jerseys with numbers not allowed in the rules set by the league.

The ManCom said that it will stick with the old FIBA rule for jersey numbering, in which a player can only choose numbers between 4 and 19 inclusive for their jerseys.

The ManCom effectively forfeited LSGH's win and will be credited with a loss while giving Letran the win despite a lackluster performance. With both teams being perennial Final Four contenders, this result could become vital should the playoff race becomes close.
