Racal applies for PBA expansion--report

MANILA--Just as Hapee announced its intention of joining the PBA, another D-League club could go on its way to the top-tier as well.

Spin.PH's Snow Badua reported on Saturday that Racal Motors submitted a letter of intent to become possibly the 14th team of Asia's longest play-for-pay cagefest.

Although not known to many unlike fellow motoring companies Kia and Toyota, which became one of the pioneer teams in the league in 1975, the top officials of Racal, known for selling motorcycles, believe they have enough finances to build a PBA team.

They also said that they will be fine with the concession the PBA, now headed by Commissioner Chito Narvasa, will give to them.

Racal has been using the club basketball leagues as its main avenues of marketing, fielding in teams in the D-League and the FBA.
