QUEZON CITY--San Miguel moved to within two wins from the PBA Governors' Cup championship after storming back from a fourth-quarter deficit to trounce Alaska, 103-95, in Game 2 of their finals series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night.
Leading for most of the first three periods, the Beermen found themselves trailing, 76-85, with 9:04 remaining as the Aces opened the fourth quarter on a 12-3 run. But they slowly crawled back and were within two, 87-89, later in the period.
Alaska mounted a mini-rally to take a 95-90 lead with 2:39 left in the match.
SMB, however, closed out the match on a 13-0 run to escape with the victory.
AZ Reid, who got nosed out by Romeo Travis for the Best Import award, fired 37 points, while Best Player winner Junemar Fajardo added 16 for the Beermen, who now lead the series, 2-0.
Travis, who struggled in the series opener on Friday, had a better outing, making 23 points to lead six Aces in double figures.
