Reid sizzles in Q4 as SMB takes 3-0 lead versus Alaska in Govs' Cup finals

By Ivan Saldajeno

QUEZON CITY--Arizona Reid waxed hot in the last 6:40 of Game 3 of the PBA Governors' Cup Finals to help San Miguel take a 96-89 win against Alaska at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.

Reid mounted a 10-0 run by his lonesome as the Beermen bounced back from a potential Aces pull-away and take a 91-85 lead with 2:55 remaining in the match.

Chris Banchero and Calvin Abueva tried to keep the Aces in the match as they made inside shots to pull them to within four, 89-93, with 37.2 seconds to go.

But clutch free throws from Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter sealed the Beermen's win as they took a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. History favors them as teams holding a 3-0 lead in a race-to-four affair are 13-0 in clinching the series.

Reid finished with 41 points on 17-of-26 shooting along with 12 rebounds and three assists, while Junemar Fajardo added 14 markers, 19 boards, three dimes, and a block for San Miguel, which can sweep the series with a Game 4 win on Friday night.

Arwind Santos, who had a slump in his recent games, had a relatively fine performance, making eight points, eight rebounds, one steal, and two blocks, including one that emphatically stopped Jvee Casio's breakaway layup.

Romeo Travis once again struggled, only making 17 points on 7-of-19 shooting for Alaska.
