MANILA--The FEU connection of Joshua Mulero and Nano Amita worked wonders for Manila Jeepney as the club finished off a gritty Forza squad, 2-0, at the start of the UFL Cup knockout stages at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Thursday night.
Amita first found Mulero half an hour into the match, and the latter did not waste the former's effort by sending the ball to the goal for the opening goal.
It took a full hour before Amita scored one of his own to seal Jeepney's quarterfinal berth.
The top-tier club Jeepney held on against the Division 2 side Forza, which looked to score an upset by going aggressive the entire match.
Forza fired 21 attempts, 11 on target, but goalkeeper Ray Joyel held on to his post and kept a clean sheet for Jeepney, which only took six with two on target. The two shots on goal eventually went in.
