MANDALUYONG--In his first Philippine basketball appearance since starring for Cathedral High School in the United States, UCLA commit Kobe Paras showed his high-flying skills and even an improved three-point shooting.

And for Gilas point guard L.A. Tenorio, he will not be surprised if the 6-6 shooting guard, who also starred in the Batang Gilas youth team, will get a call-up to the senior squad even if his college career with the Bruins begins.

Asked by sportswriters on Saturday night after an exhibition game between past, present, and future Philippine basketball stars at the House of Rise, the Ginebra playmaker answered, "Pwede na siya sa Gilas. Kung hindi siya magiging member ngayon, baka next year member na yan. Di ako magugulat na maging member siya next year."

Tenorio described Paras, the son of PBA legend Benjie, who also saw action in the said game, as Philippine basketball's next big thing.

Tenorio further said, "He's the future. Nakita naman natin kung gaanong ka-athletic and ka-versatile ng bata. Sana siya na ang first [homegrown] Filipino player to play in the NBA."
