MANILA--Loyola kicked off its UFL Cup knockout stages bid with a 5-0 win over Mendiola at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.
Anthony Putrus-Schnell opened the scoring with a 23rd minute attack off a Jorrel Aristorenas cross.
The two teamed up again in the 37th minute as Putrus-Schnell found the net anew for his brace.
Mendiola slowed down Loyola in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Division 2 side failed to get one back against the Division 1 team.
Brad Grayson finally broke the silence for Loyola in the 73rd minute as he followed up a blocked Phil Younghusband free kick.
Graham Caygill then came in for Brad Grayson, but even Caygill contributed as he scored in the 78th minute.
He made it a brace after putting the icing on the cake in the first minute of the second half stoppage time.
The win set up a quarterfinal showdown between Loyola and Jeepney next Saturday.
