SAN JUAN, MM--Lyceum lost a huge halftime lead but bounced back in the end to beat San Sebastian, 71-67, in their NCAA second round meeting at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Friday.
The Pirates appeared to have clogged the Golden Stags early on, limiting them to only nine points in the first quarter and 21 at the half while opening a 16-point cushion. They would maintain a double-digit edge late in the third quarter.
But San Sebastian uncorked a 21-3 run to take a 67-60 lead with 4:31 remaining in the game.
It was all the Stags would exert as the Pirates finished the game on an 11-0 run while forcing late stops.
M.J. Ayaay led Lyceum, which moved up to 3-7, with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Victor Nguidjol added 15 markers, 17 boards, one dime, four blocks, and two steals.
Ryan Costelo had 17 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and two steals for San Sebastian, which dropped to 3-8.
