MANILA--Manila North failed to capture the FIBA 3x3 Manila Masters title as the Calvin Abueva-led team lost to reigning world champion Novi Sad, 21-14, in the final at the Robinson's Place Manila on Sunday night.
Manila North fell behind early on and trailed, 8-19, with 3:45 left in the game as Novi Sad seemed to have solved the problem of Manila North's physical game.
Troy Rosario led Manila North's comeback bid, but it fell short as Dejan Majstorovic and Dusan Bulut scored the clinching baskets that earned Novi Sad US$10 thousand.
Manila North, for making the championship game, pocketed US$4 thousand (about PHP180 thousand).
Both Novi Sad and Manila North will enter the 3x3 World Tour Final in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 15 and 16.
