MANILA--Roi Sumang finally got a PBA call-up as GlobalPort utilized its first pick of the draft on the flashy UE guard at Robinson's Place Manila on Sunday.
Entering the draft without first and second round picks owing to prior trades, the Batang Pier selected Sumang, projected as a first rounder in various mock drafts, as the fourth pick of the third round and 26th overall.
The third round actually still had a star power of sorts as Letran's "Ant-Man" Mark Cruz and Ateneo's Nico Elorde also got drafted.
Cruz will join Arth Dela Cruz at the Star camp as he was selected 30th overall and eighth in the third round, while Elorde became Alaska's lone third rounder at 33rd overall.
Blackwater began the round by going for Jason Melano, while Mahindra followed and drafted Leo De Vera.
NLEX picked Jansen Rios, while Barako Bull chose Yutien Andrada. Ginebra opted for Dennice Villamor, while Meralco took Joseph Sedurifa.
Talk 'n Text and San Miguel also began their PBA Draft work by getting Michole Sorela and Michael Mabulac respectively.
