SAN JUAN, MM—Mapua thought it will cruise to an easy NCAA win against JRU after mounting an 18-point advantage with less than four minutes left.

Tey Teodoro took over.

The sophomore guard initiated a game-turning 24-3 run including the go-ahead basket with 3.2 seconds remaining to lift the Heavy Bombers to a 90-87 victory over the silenced Cardinals at the FilOil Flying V Arena on Tuesday.

Teodoro sparked the late rally with a triple, added two more in a 12.5 second sequence later in the fourth, and completed the stunner with back-to-back layups including the game-winner.

With C.J. Isit sidelined due to a dislocated shoulder, Exe Biteng and Stephen Que headed Mapua's quarterbacking chores and helped build an 84-66 cushion with 3:44 remaining.

But Teodoro's trey launched a 15-2 run that trimmed the gap to only five, 86-81, with 33 seconds left.

The Bombers then forced the Cards to a turnover, but Teodoro muffed a three-pointer and Allwell Oraeme collected the rebound.

Oraeme, after a foul, only made one of two free throws with 20.3 ticks on the clock.

Paolo Pontejos nailed a triple of his own, and Teodoro stole the inbound pass and scored to cut the lead further to one, 87-86, with 9.4 seconds left.

Teodoro failed to tie the game after missing the bonus charity off a foul, but Oraeme stepped on the baseline after taking the board.

Teodoro bounced back by slicing through the defense and converting the lay-in.

JRU's defense led to another Mapua error, and Dave Sanchez iced the game with two freebies.

Justin Serrano almost forced overtime as his desperation heave bounced off the rim before going out.

Teodoro finished with 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting, 13 coming in the last 3:27 of the game, one rebound, one assist, and three steals.

Jordan Dela Paz added 20 markers, four boards, three dimes, and a swipe for the Heavy Bombers.

Oraeme led the Cardinals, who are also without Josan Nimes due to a hamstring injury, with 25 points, 19 rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
