MANILA--JP Voltes took the last seat to the UFL Cup quarterfinals after a 2-1 squeaker win against Pasargad at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.
The newly-promoted club bounced back from Fidelis Nnabuife's opener to steal the win from Pasargad.
Nnabuife started the scoring in the 13th minute as he got past Tatsuya Nakamura and sent the ball to the goal against the outstretched arms of Nelson Gasic.
But Takasi Odawara instantly got the goal back with an 18th minute rocket.
Soichiro Tanaka scored the go-ahead goal for Voltes in the 37th minute off a feed from Chihiro Noda.
Voltes took control of the match defensively in the second half to frustrate Pasargad.
Voltes will face Kaya on Friday in a match-up that could feature Kaya loanee Dominic Del Rosario battling his mother club.
On the other hand, the supposed tiff between Green Archers and Agila was called off after the latter decided to forfeit the match, effectively giving the former an outright quarterfinal seat.
Green Archers, which will be credited with the 3-0 forfeiture win, will take on Ceres in the other Friday night showdown.
